Volunteer Opportunities

Cary Soccer Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that is supported significantly by volunteers. Volunteers help keep our fees down by eliminating the need to pay for critical roles that are essential to operating the Cary Soccer programs (e.g., field setup/striping).

When registering you may select any and all volunteer areas that you are interested in.

If you have questions about volunteer opportunities or if you have a specific volunteer area not listed below that you would like to offer please contact finance@carysoccer.org.


Volunteer Opportunities

Head Referee Coordinator* Clubwide Oversee referees including securing referees, ensuring referees are properly trained and scheduling through Assignr referee platform (must be knowledgeable in soccer rules) Fall/Spring 1 12-20 per season
Assistant Referee Coordinator* Clubwide Assist Head Referee Coordinator as needed and act as a backup person Fall/Spring 1 6-10 per season
Field Coordinator Clubwide Oversee and coordinate set up of soccer fields each season and coordinate weekly/biweekly field striping with field striper volunteers Fall/Spring 1-2 6-8 per season
Field Set Up Clubwide Participate in overall soccer field set up - measuring, marking and striping of fields at the beginning of the season Fall - End August/Spring - end March 3-4 each season 6-8 per season
Field Striping Clubwide Stripe/Maintain soccer fields - weekly/biweekly depending on fields and need Fall/Spring 6 (one per field) each season 5-10 per season
Volunteer Coordinator* Clubwide Track family volunteer hours to ensure volunteer requirement is met if chose to volunteer vs paying Volunteer Opt Out Fee with assistance of Club Admin/Finance Manager Ongoing 1 6-10 per year
Equipment Coordinator Clubwide Coordinate equipment needs including inventory, distribution and collection of all equipment (corner flags, balls, first aid supplies, etc) Ongoing 1 2-4 per year
Equipment Bag Coordinator Recreational Assist Equipment Coordinator with ensuring recreational coaches have fully stocked equipment bags that are distributed each season and collected at the end of the season Fall/Spring 1 2 per season
Competitive Team Managers* Competitive Liaise with coach to assist in all administrative matters of team including set up/communication of schedules/locations through the SportsEngine mobile app, team social events, and overall go to person for non-coaching related questions Ongoing 1 per competitive team 3-5 per year
Competitive Tryouts Competitive Assist with directing players to correct field for tryout, handing out fee flyer with fee information, and ensuring any players that did not sign up complete a walk up registration form; volunteer should be current competitive player family that can answer basic questions Spring - May various tryout dates 6-8 1-2
Recreational Coach - Little Kickers* Recreational Co-coach (2 coaches) small group (8-10 players) in our Little Kickers (3-4 year old) program at the direction of CSA Director of Coaching Fall/Spring 4-6 per season 45 minute session for 8 weeks
Recreational Coach - U6* Recreational Co-coach (2 coaches) small group (10-12 players) in our U6 (5-6 year old) program at the direction of CSA Director of Coaching Fall/Spring 6-12 per season 1 hour session for 8 weeks
Recreational Assistant Coach - U8* Recreational Assist CSA coaching staff at practices/games Fall/Spring 8-10 per season 20-24 per season
Recreational Head Coach - U10 - High School* Recreational Responsible overall for coaching team practices/games including team communication to parents in absense of an assistant coach; contact for communication with opposing coaches in the league Fall/Spring 8-12 per season 25-35 hours per season (3-4 hours/week for 8-10 weeks)
Recreational Assistant Coach - U10 - High School* Recreational Assist head coach with coaching and team communication with SportsEngine mobile app Fall/Spring 8-12 per season 25-35 hours per season (3-4 hours/week for 8-10 weeks)

TOPSoccer Program Coordinator* Clubwide Coordinate our TOPSoccer program, is a community based program for young athletes with disabilities to learn and play the game of soccer. Overall coordination of program between players and buddies. Fall/Spring 2 10

*Volunteers 18 and older must complete Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) requirement for background check (every 2 years), US Center for safesport training (annual), and concussion training (one time training) - All online at NO cost to volunteer.
