Volunteers

Cary Soccer Association

We currently are in need of parents who are interested in volunteering their time to enhance the soccer program.  It takes many volunteers to ensure a fun and successful soccer experience for your child If you see a role that you or someone you know would like to fill, please e-mail:

Rec Volunteer Opportunities

Several volunteer openings exist within the Recreational Division of Cary Soccer:


Team Coaches - Run practices and coach games for an assigned team.

Age Group Coordinators - Ensure that all teams have assigned parent coaches. Assist in passing out uniforms, schedules, etc. Work to solve any field, referee, or other issues as they arise.

Uniform Coordinator (Recreation) - Orders and distributes uniforms to players. The recreational program has two seasons where uniforms may be distributed.

Field Site Directors - Responsible for the condition of the assigned field, including striping the fields. Other volunteers are generally identified to assist.

Field Striper - Assists the Field Site Director by striping selected fields.

Travel Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering for a position within our Travel Organization, please email admin@carysoccer.org and we can get you started in one of the following areas:

Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator - Recruits volunteers in the operation of the Cary Defenders travel program .  Oversee the recruitment of all volunteers required to run Cary Defenders sponsored programs and events.  Ensure that all volunteer positions filled.

Travel Team Coordinator - Oversees the operation of the Cary Defenders Travel program.  Liaise with D.O.C, Assistant D.O.C and other volunteers to oversee operation of the travel soccer program.  Lead the travel team committee of volunteers.  Reports monthly to the CSA board of directors.  Time commitment – ongoing throughout the year.

Boys - YSSL League Coordinator - Oversee the relationship between the Cary Defenders and Young Sportmen's Soccer League.  Attend all YSSL league meetings.

Fundraising Coordinator - Oversee the effective operation of a fundraising program to provide players with the opportunity to offset the cost of their annual fees.  Keep look out for most productive fundraisers.  Liaise with team managers regarding fundraisers.
Time commitment - Approx 2-3 weeks during fall season to run fundraiser.

Travel Field Site Director - 3 positions: Kaper, Lions, and Cary Grove Park – Oversee the effective operation of each park for travel games.  Ensure fields are marked for games.  Ensure all equipment (flags, etc.) are put away at the end of the weekends games.  Time commitment – Approx. 3-5 hours during the week communicating with people and organizing the location, potentially weekends if needed - Fall & Spring Seasons

Travel Team Tournament Coordinator - Point person for all tournament applications for Cary Defenders travel soccer teams.  Liaise with D.O.C, Assistant D.O.C, travel coaches, and team managers regarding tournament applications.  Liaise with the CSA treasurer to obtain checks for tournaments.  Meet tournament deadlines for applications and checks.  Time commitment - Approx 6-10 hours in early August and again in late February or early March

Travel Team Uniform Coordinator - Oversee the purchase and distribution of all travel team uniforms and apparel.  Liaise with uniform supplier on deadlines and order placement.  Communicates with travel teams managers and coaching staff regarding ordering procedures, timeframes, and ordering deadlines.  Collects uniforms from supplier and distributes accordingly to travel teams.  Time commitment - Approx 3-4 hours per week for 2-3 weeks following the June try-outs and again in late January for additional needs during the spring season.


Soccer Ball Organizer - Help organize items for raffles and oversee all aspects of the event plannig.

Team Registration Night Coordinator – Oversees Team Registration Night.  Works with Director of Coaching to insure all players have submitted complete player packets.
Works with the Treasurer to ensure that club fees are paid.  Time commitment – approx. 3 planning hours, 3 hours to assign volunteers, and 5 hours during Team Registration evening.

Try-Out Coordinator – Oversees the Travel Try-outs for all age levels.  Works with Director of Coaching and CSA Administrative Assistant to establish tryout dates.
Runs newspaper advertising and flyer distribution to schools.  Coordinates volunteers to staff the check-in tables at tryouts.  Time commitment – approx. 3 planning days in April, 4 tryout days in June, and 2 tryout nights in October.

General Volunteer –Willing to assist the individual volunteer coordinators and organizers on an “as needed” basis.
