Youth Academy

The Youth Academy (Y.A.)

Welcome to THE YOUTH ACADEMY (Y.A.), a training program specifically designed for all players between the ages of 6 and 8 (or those in 1st or 2nd grade). The Y.A. is organized and run by Cary Soccer Association (CSA). It is a unique opportunity for recreational players, who aspire to play travel soccer, to receive professional soccer training and develop their technical skills while enhancing their enthusiasm for the sport. The Y.A. is creating an environment for the development and future of the areas elite young players.

The primary purpose of the Y.A. is exactly as the name implies, learning. Players in the Y.A. will focus on the core skills, learning and mastering soccer skills. We will judge their success by their ability to improve their skills they have been taught in training sessions.

The most successful players from the Y.A. will eventually graduate and become a part of a Cary Defenders team. This will give the area's better younger players higher quality training, while still allowing them to play against local teams without the full commitment of travel soccer. This program is designed to accelerate the player’s development.

The Y.A., which is the first step in becoming a fully fledged Cary Defenders player, is directed by Brad Wellmen (Director of Coaching).

As Director of the Y.A., Brad is involved with identifying players to be asked to join this exclusive academy and the overall organization of the program.
