Codes of Conduct and Training

Codes of Conduct

Below are the three codes of conduct accepted by each travel parent during the initial player registration process.  Each family must accept the terms of the codes of conduct in order for a player registration to be complete and a travel player pass issued.

Parents Code of Conduct - Cary Soccer Association

In order to ensure that all families and the club are aligned on expectations, the following agreement / code of conduct has been developed. It is important that all parents/ or guardians read and sign the following Cary Soccer Association parent agreement. This agreement outlines the general conditions and guidelines governing a player and family’s participation within the Cary Soccer Association

Legend: CSA = Cary Soccer Association; DOC = Director of Coaching

As a parent of a Cary Soccer Association player, I agree to:

  1. Provide transportation to and from all CSA training session, matches, tournaments, and events, ensuring the player is prompt not only in arriving but also leaving. When my son or daughter cannot make a practice of game I will whenever possible give the coach as much notice as possible. I also understand that training locations and times are selected by CSA and can be changed from time to time at the clubs discretion.
  2. Ensure the player brings all equipment to and from all soccer activities and that this equipment is worn properly. For safety reasons your son or daughter may not be allowed to practice or compete without appropriate gear.
  3. Ensure that my child refrains from using foul language, alcohol, drugs, nicotine or tobacco products, or any substance that in any way degrades or damages their condition of performance as an athlete and member of CSA. It is also understood that all parents are to refrain from using alcohol and tobacco at any club activities unless permission has been granted by the club.
  4. Maintain sideline behavior of the highest standards with no verbal or physical abuse towards anyone at any time. I also understand and accept that I am personally responsible for my own actions and the actions of my child and family members at all times. In no way do I hold any coach, team manager, or DOC responsible for any inappropriate actions by myself, my child a family member, or spectator associated with me, my child, and/ or family member at any time. I also acknowledge that if the team coach, parent manager or DOC believes my behavior to be inappropriate in any manner, I may face sanctioning including but not limited to not being allowed to attend matches or be present at team functions.
  5. Treat my player, their teammates, opponents, referees, assistant referees, all coaches, parents of all players, CSA, DOC and any other member of the CSA with dignity, courtesy, respect, and sportsmanship at all times. I agree to guide my behavior by common sense principles and ethics which make all of us proud to be associated with CSA.
  6. Understand that is against the league and Illinois Youth Soccer Association’s policy to take any CSA travel player to any other soccer organizations or clubs training sessions, matches, practices, coaching sessions or meetings without prior written consent from the CSA’s DOC.
  7. Lend all players positive support and not to point out mistakes or coach during games and practices. I understand that it is the coach’s role to coach. I agree to allow the coaching staff of CSA to do their job accordingly. I will approach the coach directly with questions by e-mail when possible or at a time that does not interfere with practice times or games. I also agree to adhere to CSA “24 hour rule” stating that unless it is an emergency, I will wait 24 hours after an event to help to take emotion out of the situation before I bring any concerns or complaints regarding a specific event to the attention of the coach, DOC, committee member, or parent manager. (An example of an emergency would include something that could adversely affect an entire team or age groups well being. Playing time / positional discrepancies and game results are not emergencies).
  8. Follow the appropriate chain of command to resolve issues or questions relative to coaches or club policies. The appropriate route for resolving issues or questions regarding team issues is the coach, parent manager, DOC, or committee member. For club policies you can start with the Parent Manager or coach. I will always do my best not to discuss concerns or problems in public or in front of CSA players. Concerns with other players should be discussed with the parents, coach, parent manager, or DOC but not with the player.
  9. Honor all financial commitments to CSA per the program guidelines. The undersigned agrees to pay in full all costs to play travel soccer, and any other reasonable assessed fees by the CSA for the upcoming season effective the day this agreement is signed. Failure to pay any portion of the fees will result in suspension of the player’s card to CSA until payments are made. I understand and accept that a majority of CSA expenses are fixed and based on my commitment to pay my fees in full. Any exceptions to full payment of fees can be approved by the committee with the Treasurers recommendation.
  10. Understand that there are specific guidelines for transferring my son / daughter during a season to other soccer organizations which are established by Illinois Youth Soccer Association. Transfers are only to be considered by CSA under extenuating circumstances such as relocations. Requests for transfers must be made in writing to the DOC and will be reviewed by the board. There is also a $25 administrative transfer fee required before a release can be considered which I agree to pay in full if requesting a transfer.
  11. Understand that all coaches, referees, players, parents, and program administrators are bound by the bylaws, policies, and requirements of the United States Soccer Federation, US Youth Soccer, Illinois Youth Soccer, Illinois Women's Soccer League, Young Sportsmen Soccer League, and Northern Illinois Soccer League. The Cary Soccer Association/Cary Defenders reserves the right to release a player per the IYSA Rule 006 pertaining to the involuntary release of players from a club should these bylaws, policies, and requirements be violated.

It is our intent that this code of conduct will answer many questions you have and provide for a better understanding between your family, coaches and the club. Thank you for your support to the club and we look forward to the upcoming season.
